Life and the pursuit of...: The Curious Crusade of my first Zaarly

bobbymillerjr:

The first Question you may be asking your self is “why am I even on this site?” I’ll tell you why, you want to be entertained. So I’ll do my best to attempt that. Now that I have answered your first question, the second thing you’re thinking has got to be what in the hoot is a Zaarly? Well a…

This is a fantastic speech on Entrepreneurial Aide in Africa.  Cheetahs vs.  Hippos.  Oddly similar to America but definitely more severe.

The Entrepreneurial Spirit of the Holidays:

Research and Development on a whim with the little brother.  We invented an all-natural whole grain bread that is fun to eat!  We dubbed it, “Beanie Bread” to poke fun at my dad’s life-long nickname.  Think kids will like it?

Oh how I love to be home for the holidays.

Start ups are like teenage daughters. They constantly need attention, don’t know who they are, and always cause trouble but we love them anyways.

When is it time to admit you’re a nerd?

Throughout my college I’ve battled this identity crisis along the way of whether I am a complete nerd or whether I’m actually considered at all “cool”.

Tonight is the night when I finally realized my true identity.

Before I answer the question in short I’m going to describe my Saturday night.

I’m sitting at my desk in a collared shirt and boxers using dual monitors so I can do market research and build a powerpoint simultaneously. (It’s Saturday Night) My headphones are plugged into Frank Sinatra on Pandora through my iPad to drowned out the fraternity outside my window (I’m 21 years old.  I grew up in the Lil Wayne era.  The Frank was far before my time)

The fraternity house literally next to my bedroom window is blaring the music that I should be tuned in to.  My roommates will be back from the bar soon. (With all sorts of wonderful stories of the night I missed out on.)  They will most likely call me words that I won’t write on my blog but tonight I’ve realized.

I’m a nerd.

and damn proud of it.

Who is wise? He that learns from everyone. Who is powerful? He that governs his passions. Who is rich? He that is content. Who is that? Nobody.

— I disagree with the last part (some people are content with their wealth) but overall a revealing quote from my boy. -Benjamin Franklin

What motivates you?

In last weeks meeting with my Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization the topic of motivation came up.  Of course we were sitting at a table with students who are in multiple student organizations, value real-world experience, and study hard for their course-load but we were discussing the other students.  The majority.

What motivates the “average” person to get active?  What makes them want to learn, to experience, and to volunteer?  What motivates them to go the extra step to make their lives as great as they can be.

We intend to do a survey of a few different student bodies to measure responses and possibly put together a diverse focus group to learn more!  I’m very excited.

If you have any inputs I’d love to hear them.

With Entrepreneurial Spirit,

Daniel
